IHS Standards Expert® 5.0 allows standards users to spend less time looking for documents and more time leveraging critical business information to add value to their organizations
IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analytics, announced today the launch of IHS Standards Expert 5.0, the latest release of the industry-leading standards management platform. This new release incorporates key enhancements that enable users to spend less time looking for documents and more time leveraging critical business information to add value to their organizations.
"Our customers have shared with us the key challenges they face in accessing the standards and engineering documents that are crucial to growing their businesses," said Chad Hawkinson, vice president, product design at IHS. "We have listened to this feedback and built a host of customer-driven enhancements into IHS Standards Expert 5.0. These innovations will ensure that our users can quickly find the information they need, when they need it, and help users immediately be more productive and make better decisions."
As many as 60 percent of manufacturers report that they lack the information necessary to innovate, and engineers say that they are spending more time than ever finding and analyzing the information they need to perform their jobs. Standards play a vital role in helping companies leverage past technology breakthroughs and preserve institutional knowledge within their organizations. IHS Standards Expert simplifies and expedites the process for finding and managing standards. Whether a company requires a single collection of standards, documents from multiple standards development organizations (SDOs), or any combination in between, IHS Standards Expert is a powerful, easy-to-use standards management solution. More than 550,000 users at 3,200 companies in more than 30 countries around the world rely on IHS Standards Expert.
The new features in 5.0 include enhanced basic and advanced search capabilities to increase user productivity, updates to the user experience to make the solution easier to navigate and use, and new tools to help account administrators better manage their company's standards portfolio.
"The new look and feel of IHS Standards Expert 5.0 will help our users navigate with greater ease, the enhanced search capabilities will ensure that they find the information they need quickly and the updates to the user experience will help them immediately be more productive," said Steve Noth, senior director, product management at IHS. "We believe our customers will agree that this is truly our most innovative release yet."
IHS Standards Expert 5.0 is also compatible with the Safari® browser on Apple® iPhone® and iPad® devices. "Our customers have requested that we support mobile users," added Noth. "This new compatibility provides users with anytime, anywhere access to most standards content and many of the tools in IHS Standards Experts through these popular mobile platforms using the Web browser included with the devices."
With IHS Standards Expert 5.0, IHS now provides "redline" comparison documents, which allow users with subscriptions to Active and Historical standards collections of certain SDOs to easily identify the specific changes between different versions of standards. Redlines can save users hours of time previously spent on line-by-line comparisons of different document versions.
A cloud-based solution accessed via an Internet connection using common Web browsers, IHS Standards Expert 5.0 is immediately available to all users of the standards management solutions. More information on IHS Standards Expert 5.0 is available at http://www.ihs.com/info/st/ise5.aspx.
