IHS (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analysis, today announced that Senior Regulatory Analyst Mark Blainey will participate in a webinar entitled “REACH and CLP Tips for Downstream Users: What to Do If Suppliers Are Not Compliant or If They Are Not Providing Their Information” at 9 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, hosted by Chemical Watch magazine. More than 600 participants are expected to attend this event.
“This webinar will demonstrate how industry-leading organizations are adopting innovative best practices, including adoption of information management systems, to help them achieve compliance under Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), as well as the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) of Substances and Mixtures and other critical chemical management and product stewardship requirements,” said IHS Vice President, EHS & Sustainability Solutions Scott Lockhart.
Blainey will join Unilever Regulatory Compliance Manager, Europe, Dr. Peter Freunscht, and Alliance Boots Sustainable Development Manager/Scientific Advisors Manager Stephen Johnson to discuss best practices that are being used by leading firms to effectively manage supply chain communication and address issues around substances of high concern.
Chemical management and product stewardship pose complex compliance challenges for downstream users and this webinar is designed to show how many companies are successfully addressing those challenges. Blainey’s presentation will outline supplier responsibilities under REACH and CLP and provide advice for organizations whose suppliers deliver products that are not compliant with chemical management regulations or are not providing the required information for accurate regulatory reporting.
Blainey, one of the foremost authorities on REACH legislation, has been a prominent figure in European Union (EU) Chemicals legislation for nearly 15 years. He has published a number of papers dealing with important regulatory issues, including REACH guidance documents, reviews of the REACH Annexes, CLP guidance published in “Managing CLP Compliance: the Essentials for Business” and contributions to the European Commission’s CLP Regulation proposal.
Blainey is part of a team of IHS domain and industry experts whose extensive experience helps organizations understand the global regulatory landscape and develop forward thinking strategies and solutions to address those complex compliance issues.
IHS offers information management solutions that combine software, information content and expert analysis that help organizations address critical business challenges around chemical management, and product stewardship compliance, and other environmental, health and safety (EHS) business challenges to achieve their goals for enterprise sustainability management.
