"To meet our company’s high standards for customer service, as well as rising demands from interest groups and regulators, we needed a good management system for our raw materials and products,"

IHS (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analytics, announced today that Tikkurila, a leading European provider of decorative paints, has selected the IHS Product Stewardship Solution™ to support its compliance program for Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and distribution.

“We are pleased to have this opportunity to work with an industry leader like Tikkurila and help them achieve their compliance and sustainability goals,” said IHS Senior Vice President, EHS and Sustainability, Woody Ritchey. “Tikkurila’s selection is part of a growing trend, as more companies around the world choose IHS software, content and services to address a broad spectrum of enterprise sustainability management business challenges.”

“To meet our company’s high standards for customer service, as well as rising demands from interest groups and regulators, we needed a good management system for our raw materials and products,” said Tikkurila Group Vice President, Research and Development Kenneth Sundberg. “By working with IHS, we are streamlining common processes across the company -- and improving internal efficiency -- by better utilizing existing data throughout our operations."

Headquartered in Finland, Tikkurila is a market-leading decorative paint provider with locations in Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Serbia, Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The company selected IHS because its blend of enterprise software, managed regulatory content and expert services will support Tikkurila’s global growth initiatives and meet its compliance reporting requirements, including Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and its Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) protocol for substances and mixtures.

Sundberg continued: “As one of Europe’s premier paint companies, we are well known for providing our customers with solutions that are user-friendly and sustainable. It is only natural that we want to manage all of our compliance requirements — including generating quality safety documents — in a way that is efficient and sustainable to maintain our strong brand image.”

IHS Product Stewardship Solution combines regulatory expertise and information technology to help companies produce, manage and distribute a wide array of hazards communication documents and reports across the entire product life cycle. It is one of six innovative IHS solutions that support broader enterprise sustainability management (ESM) strategies to address the full spectrum of environmental, health safety, risk management and other sustainability business challenges.  For more information about EHS and sustainability solutions from IHS, visit www.ihs.com/ehs-sustainability.
